Outdoor Learning
Outdoor Learning
Our Outdoor Learning activities take place in our ‘Secret Garden’…. Don’t ask where it is….! It’s a secret. All of our children get a chance over their time at Long Meadow to learn in the Secret Garden.
The children learn skills like fire lighting, using tools correctly, outdoor cooking and den making.
By participating in engaging, motivating and achievable tasks and activities in a woodland environment each participant has an opportunity to develop intrinsic motivation and sound emotional and social skills. Through increasing self awareness, individual pupils are enabled to reach their own personal potential.
Outdoor Learning will aim to develop:
- Self Awareness
- Self Regulation
- Intrinsic motivation
- Empathy
- Good social communication skills
- Independence
- A positive mental attitude, self-esteem and confidence
